Rather than hog the limelight or be seen to be revelling in the unfathomable douchery, Beyonce kept it classy and let Swift take over her own moment, as she won the moonman for Video of the Year 2009 for Single Ladies.

“[I remember] I was up for my first MTV award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life,” Beyonce said. “So I’d like for Taylor to come out and have her moment.” Taylor then took the stage in a red dress that matched Beyonce’s, thanking the fans “on Twitter and MySpace and everyone who came out to my shows this summer,” as well as those who had worked on her video for “You Belong With Me.”
